Role.

My Role for the show was presenter, for this role I wanted to make sure that I had predominant control over the script due to it being myself and the other presenter talking. I went about this by compiling lots of information and ideas that had been talked about within meetings and discussions with my co-presenter. This meant that I managed to have a lot of control over what was happening in the show. I created a few drafts of the script and then continued to share it with my co-presenter so that we both had inputs and it was written in a way we were both comfortable with.

After writing the script it meant that I was very familiar with the content of the show so I then decided to make a cue sheet for the show, I did this by writing the cue sheet along side my script so that I was able to create something that worked with what was already written, as well as knowing the timing for each piece.

When we agreed on the topic for this show we decide that the first thing we wanted to do was decide on some key interviews and essential content that would make the show more energetic and exciting for all ages and people involved. We made a list of different places and ideas that we could use and would be beneficial for the show. This was a priority as we wanted to make sure that our show was multi generational by finding different packages, and interviews that would be relevant for any potential listeners at the time. Some of my own original ideas managed to become part of the over all content for the show such as:

  • Traditional barber shop – Due to the trend of beards that is hitting the world, and the success of this fashion statement.
  • Fabric Shop – Ideal due to the ability for it to provide the knowledge to people that intend to make their own clothing as well as allowing people to be aware of potential opportunities for alterations on already existing items of clothing
  • Boutiques – Finding a boutique would mean that we would be able to provide information about fashion retailers that provide clothing options that aren’t just high street brands.
  • Children’s clothing shop – Because of the timing of the show this would provide parents with alternative retailers that would be able to provide clothing for their children.

“Radio presenting is more than just standing in front of a microphone. It’s about working closely with the team around you and engaging your audience to make the best of a production.” Making sure I was engaging with the audience is something that I really wanted to perfect for the live show. After working on a lot of the pre-recorded interviews it meant that I was hopefully manage to further practice my role as the presenter for the show as I was practising my interview technique and questions skills within them. When preparing for my role as presenter it was more of an issue of bonding with my co-presenter so that we had the on air dynamic that is essential when being on radio to make sure that we applied the necessary excitement and connection when we were live. We did a lot of the pre recorded content together so we got a better understanding of how the other person worked, as well as building up a connection that will hopefully have been projected when we were on air. As the presenter creating my own online presence is important as it will hopefully help for the whole show, i managed this by posting photos, and status’ on different social medias to hopefully keep up with what was happening within the show as well as answering questions and other interesting things that may have been relevant towards the show.
